Miss Sweden

Miss Sweden is not only the title that is given to beauty contestants who are meant to compete in international beauty contests that Sweden is meant to participate in annually. Most notable of the international contests for which the Miss Sweden Pageant would choose its most beautiful, talented, and intelligent young women would have to be the Miss Universe Pageant, the Miss World Pageant, and the Miss International Pageant. The Miss Sweden Pageant is also meant to determine which young ladies will be sent to compete in more localized pageants such as the Miss Scandinavia Pageant and the Miss Europe Contest. Organized by the Star World Entertainment company, the Miss Sweden pageant generally consists of several different pageants for the different international pageants that the delegates are meant to join. This is mostly because the different international pageants have different expectations of contestants, and thus have different criteria for scoring. For example, Miss Sweden-International is meant to have a good body for the swimsuit competition because the Miss International Pageant sets aside the highest scores for that particular part of the pageant. Miss World, on the other hand, has no real interest in the swimsuit competition.

While it is true that the Miss Sweden Pageant has been going on since 1948, it was not until 1992 that the competition was actually aired live on local Swedish television. No Swedish channel seems to have earned the right to exclusively air the competitions for a significant amount of time. Still, the Miss Sweden Pageant seems to serve as enough of publicity for the competitors, which hold the appeal. Another appeal held by the Miss Sweden Pageant is the fact that winners are generally given the chance to spend some time abroad for some quality time and publicity photos. This will not only give them the chance to have some international exposure, but also allow them to have significant contacts outside of Sweden.
